UPDATED: Detectives arrest man in Stony Brook burglary and sexual assault

Suffolk County Police arrested an East Moriches man Saturday for an alleged sexual assault that occurred in Stony Brook on Nov. 20. Police charged Patrick O'Sullivan, 20, of Beverly Lane, with first-degree rape, first-degree burglary, second-degree criminal sexual act, second-degree kidnapping and first-degree criminal use of a firearm. O'Sullivan was held overnight at the 6th Precinct and was arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Sunday.

Suffolk County Police detectives had been looking for a suspect, whom they said entered a Stony Brook home through an unlocked door. Police said the man was armed with a rifle.

No other similar incidents have been reported in the area, police said.

The exact location and the names of those involved in the incident are being withheld due to the nature of the crime.

O'Sullivan's attorney could not be immediately reached for comment.
