June 20, 2008 | 11:46 AM Legislator Vivian Viloria-Fisher (D-Setauket) was elected deputy presiding officer of the Suffolk County Legislature June 10 in Hauppauge.
Viloria-Fisher replaces Legislator Elie Mystal, who resigned the DPO spot — and his legislative seat — in early May after allegations surfaced that the Amityville legislator actually lived in Huntington Station, well outside his district.
District Attorney Tom Spota was reportedly looking into the question of residency when Mystal announced his resignation.
The vote Tuesday was 10-2-5 with Legislators Tom Barraga (R-West Islip) and John Kennedy (R-Nesconset) voting no and Legislators Ed Romaine (R-Center Moriches), Dan Losquadro (R-Shoreham), Rick Montano (D-Central Islip), Cameron Alden (R-Islip) and Lynne Nowick (R-St. James) abstaining.
The presiding officer of the county Legislature remains Legislator Bill Lindsay (D-Holbrook).
