 | Man charged with shooting at father's home

July 30, 2008 | 08:22 AM Suffolk County Police today arrested a 40-year-old man for shooting a shotgun into his father's condominium in Port Jefferson Station early this morning.
Joseph Giardelli Jr. walked to the front of his father's condominium, located at 181 Cambridge Drive, Port Jefferson Station, with a shotgun at 4:40 a.m. Giardelli Jr. fired nine rounds at his father's residence while his father, Joseph Giardelli, 60, and stepmother, Christine Giardelli, 61, were inside. No one was injured.
Sixth Precinct Police Officers Francis Conway and Kelley Sciarrone responded to the 911 call and took Giardelli Jr. into custody without further incident. The shotgun used in the incident was recovered.
Giardelli Jr. recently moved out of his brother's house in Oakdale and was staying in his van in the parking lot of his father's condominium complex.
An investigation by Sixth Squad detectives determined that Giardelli Jr. had been involved in an ongoing dispute with his father.
Giardelli Jr. was charged with Reckless Endangerment 1st Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree. He will be arraigned in First District Court in Central Islip on July 30.
