Woman charged with bank robberies

A Port Jefferson woman, Yvette DeJesus, 32, of Thorne Lane, was arrested yesterday and charged with recent bank robberies. She faces two counts of robbery in the third-degree.

Detectives allege that she robbed a Washington Mutual branch in Port Jefferson on Dec. 31 and a Chase Bank branch in Mount Sinai on Jan. 7.

DeJesus will be held overnight at the Fourth Precinct and arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip today.
