Patricia Erland scholarship
|
May 21, 2009 | 11:38 AM Harbor Ballet Theatre, a Port Jefferson-based nonprofit ballet company, will hold a fundraiser Sunday, May 24, in support of the Patricia A. Erland Scholarship Fund as well for HBT's annual production of "The Nutcracker." The event will take place from 4 to 8 pm at Napper Tandy's Irish Pub on Route 25A in Miller Place. Current and former HBT members will perform.
The scholarship fund is named for Patty Erland, who lost her battle against cancer last year. "Patty was one of our strongest and most loyal supporters ... I can't think of a better way to honor her memory," John Worrell, HBT executive artistic director, said.
The scholarship will be given to an HBT dancer graduating from high school and planning to go to college. The 2009 winner will be announced Sunday. Tickets for the fundraiser are $20 per person with a maximum of $50 per family. They may be purchased in advance at HBT studios at 1 Reeves Road in Port Jefferson, or at the door on the day of the event. In addition to the dance performances there will be food, live music by The Denice Givens Band and raffles. For information call HBT at 331-3149.
