The "Helping You Help a Senior" Information Expo for caregivers for the elderly will be held Wednesday, May 27 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at the Smithtown Senior Center, 420 Middle Country Road in Smithtown. Hosted by Rep. Tim Bishop, town Supervisor Pat Vecchio and Day Haven, the event will offer caregivers information about the government and nonprofit agency resources available to assist them. Participants will have an opportunity to speak directly with representatives from a number of agencies, including, the Office for the Aging, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Social Security Administration, Department of Social Services, Internal Revenue Service, Senior Net@FSL Huntington, Catholic Charities, Suffolk County Sheriff's Office, Taxpayer Advocate, AARP, Economic Opportunities Council and Family Service League.
