Food becomes art at mall
May 21, 2009 | 02:12 PM
Children can turn food into art as Smith Haven Mall stirs up culinary delights during the Simon Kidgits Club Super Duper Mini Chefs event from 1 to 3 pm Saturday, June 13. This free, hands-on event will entertain the entire family and even give them a little fun to take back to the kitchen at home.

Super Duper Mini Chefs gives kids the chance to let their imaginations go wild while learning hands-on the basics of food and healthy eating. During the event, children will create sweet cereal necklaces, decorate aprons to use in their kitchens at home and create a food collage. In addition, Kidgits members will receive a free chef set. Children will also have an opportunity to dip or top their own pretzel stick, courtesy of Auntie Anne's Pretzels, and make their own delicious treats including a mini pizza with California Pizza Kitchen, a mini sundae with Häagen-Dazs® or a salad with Wendy's®.

Participants are encouraged to donate a nonperishable food item to help stock the shelves of a local food pantry. For information, contact Joanne Potter at 724-8066.
