An opening reception for an exhibition of pastels created by Rodee Hansen will be held on Thursday, June 4 at 7:30 pm at Caffe Portofino, 249 Main St., Northport.

Hansen, a Northport resident known for her watercolors and pressed flower creations, started to study pastels with noted artist Jane McGraw Teubner about a year and half ago after she received a serendipitous gift of a box of 100 year old pastels.

The display will give the public the opportunity to appreciate some of Northport, Setauket and Stony Brook's most beautiful venues, as well as exotic ports of call, as seen through the eyes of the artist.

The show, which includes still lifes, runs through June 18. Call 262-7656 or visit www.caffeportofino11768.com.
