Golf cart hijackers nabbed trying to vandalize country club greens

Five male defendants, ages 16 and 17, all residing in Port Jefferson, were arrested on June 7 at a golf course on Fairway Drive in Port Jefferson. Each defendant was similarly charged with criminal mischief and intent to damage property in connection with an incident of vandalism which took place at that location.

Contemptible
A male defendant living in Port Jefferson Station was arrested on June 6 and charged with criminal contempt in connection with an incident that took place that day at a location on Comerford Street in Port Jefferson.

A male defendant was arrested on June 8 at his residence on Hurtin Street in Port Jefferson Station and charged with menacing with a weapon, criminal possession of a weapon and criminal mischief in connection with an incident that took place at a location in Holbrook involving a handgun and a broken telephone.

Drug-related
A 21-year-old resident of Port Jefferson was arrested on June 11 at an undisclosed location in Port Jefferson and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Criminal mischief
A male complainant called at 10:20 pm May 31 to report his Lexus had been vandalized by an unknown subject while parked in the lot by Tommy's Place restaurant on Main Street in Port Jefferson.

Dirt bike gang
A resident of Mark Street in Port Jefferson Station called at 4:10 pm June 8 to report that she was being harassed and threatened by 18 youths near her house. The complainant explained to the arriving officers that this incident started when she told the teenage riders she did not want them to ride their dirt bikes in the vicinity of her residence.

Attackers known
A resident of Roe Avenue in Terryville called at noon June 7 to report being assaulted by two known females at a different location. When the police arrived the complainant refused rescue or medical attention.

Dumpster tag
The manager of a business on Nesconset Highway in Port Jefferson Station called at 6:30 pm June 8 to report a disturbance going on in front of his location. The complainant explained to the arriving police that two private sanitation companies, in the midst of a dispute, are directing their drivers to move the trash dumpsters around his parking lot.

Burglary
The proprietor of a pizza business on Nesconset Highway in Port Jefferson Station called at 8:35 am June 8 to report his business had been burglarized. According to the complainant, the thieves gained entrance to his establishment via the exhaust fan located on the roof of his building.

Burglary
A resident of Central Avenue in Port Jefferson Station called at 4:30 pm June 12 to report that his home was burglarized sometime in the previous eight hours. The complainant stated that the unknown intruder gained access to his residence by breaking the basement window of his apartment and stole various items from the dwelling.

Grand larceny
A resident of New Jersey called the 6th precinct at noon June 12 to report being victimized by a mortgage scam which was allegedly perpetrated by a mortgage company located on Nesconset Highway in Port Jefferson Station.
