Teens charged with setting field on fire

| | | Adam Heinz (click for larger version) | | June 22, 2009 | 10:42 AM Police on Friday arrested and charged two teenagers with setting fire to a high school football field in Centereach last month.
Arson Squad detectives, assisted by school authorities, allege that Matthew Gauck and Adam Heinz started a fire in the end zone on the artificial turf football field at Newfield High School on May 3, at approximately 2:50 am. The fire is estimated to have caused $35,000 worth of damage.
Gauck, 16, of Selden, is a Newfield High School student and Heinz, 18, of Centereach, is a graduate of the school.
