Auditions for the first "Idol for Kids" singing competition benefitting the Sunrise Fund and Child Life Program at Stony Brook University Medical Center will take place on July 15. The competition involves adult singers only and is modeled after the hit TV program American Idol. Auditions will run from 4 to 9 pm in the SBU Hospital Main Lobby Conference Room on Level 5.

The show is Aug. 8, at 7 pm in the Student Activities Center, Ballroom A, on the West Campus at Stony Brook University. The program is developed by Idol Entertainment and Sound Surgeon Long Island (SSLI) Studios.

Singers who want to audition for Idol for Kids can just show up during the audition times. For more information, call 631-864-2450, or visit www.sslistudios.com.

The Sunrise Fund was created in 1999 as a grassroots organization by concerned parents of patients. Through the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at SBUMC, the fund raises money to establish numerous initiatives to help children fighting cancer and lend support to their families. Doctors, nurses, child care specialists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals make up the Sunrise Fund team (visit www.sunrisefund.org).
