Busted for the bird

A resident of Commack was arrested July 1 at a location on Cliff Road in the Old Homestead Community of Belle Terre and charged with criminal contempt. According to the police reports the defendant drove by the Belle Terre location several times giving someone the finger and by those actions violated an order of protection that was in effect.

Burglaries
The manager of a medical center on Oakland Avenue in Port Jefferson Station called at 5:30 am June 29 to report an unknown person had burglarized Suite 102 of the building sometime over the last two days.

The proprietor of a travel agency business on Nesconset Highway in Port Jefferson Station called at 9 am July 2 to report her office burglarized by unknown persons sometime over the past three days.

Batter up
A resident of East Main Street in Port Jefferson called at 11:13 pm June 30 to report someone had just smashed her mailbox by hitting it with an unknown object while driving past. The complainant stated that the operator and passengers of the unknown vehicle were cruising around the neighborhood attacking other letter boxes in the same manner.

Petit larceny
The manager of a supermarket on Route 112 in Port Jefferson Station called at noon June 16 to report a white male shoplifter walked out of his store with an armful of merchandise and fled the scene in a blue van whose license plate number was recorded by the complainant.

Harassment
A complainant called at 10 pm June 25 to report being assaulted in a fight that took place the previous day at a location on East Grove Street in Terryville. Upon police arrival the complainant refused rescue or medical assistance.

Idiot-come-lately
A resident of Hollis Avenue in Port Jefferson was arrested June 30 at a location in Centereach and charged with disorderly conduct, fighting and violent behavior, obscene language and gestures and obstructing government administration. According to police at the scene, the defendant came upon a recently ended street fight on Ronkonkoma Boulevard in Centereach and caused a major disturbance by screaming, gesturing and interfering with ambulance workers at that location.

DWIs
A resident of Port Jefferson Station was arrested after being pulled over by police officers while driving southbound on Route 25A near Linden Place and charged with driving while intoxicated.

A resident of Squires Lane in Port Jefferson was arrested at a traffic stop on Nesconset Highway and Crystal Brook Hollow Road in Port Jefferson Station and charged with driving while intoxicated.

Stay away
A male defendant living in Port Jefferson was arrested on June 28 while at a location in Coram and charged with violating an order of protection.

Up to no good
A resident of Longfellow Lane in Port Jefferson was arrested July 2 on West Broadway in Port Jefferson and charged with criminal trespassing and criminal possession of a controlled substance. The defendant was found hiding at the scene and detained by Port Jefferson Code officers.
