Criminal mischief
A male manager of a discount department store on Nesconset Highway in Setauket called at 11 pm Aug. 21 to report that an out of control customer flipped over a vending machine and fled the premises.

A male complainant called at midnight Aug. 22 from the parking lot of a gym on Mark Tree Road in Setauket to report that an unknown person vandalized his car sometime over the last hour while he was working out inside.

A male resident of Buccaneer Lane in Setauket called at 8:30 am Aug. 16 to report that unknown persons vandalized his property sometime over the last two days.

A female motorist traveling eastbound on Nesconset Highway in Setauket called at 4:15 pm Aug. 19 to report that her car had just been damaged by an unknown white male who threw a hard object from his moving vehicle while apparently in the throes of road rage. The complainant stated that that subject was driving a silver pickup truck with a registration number that she wrote down before the truck drove out of sight.

Burglary
A female resident of Musket Place in Setauket called at 11:30 am Aug. 17 to report that her home had been burglarized by an unknown person sometime over the last two hours.

The proprietor of a business on Route 25A in Setauket called at 11:25 am Aug. 28 to report discovering unknown person(s) had entered and burglarized his store. The complainant stated that the break-in took place sometime after 10:30 am and also told police that he was not sure if anyone was still inside. He waited in his car until the officers arrived.

Grand larceny
A female resident of Annandale Road in Stony Brook called at 7:30 am Aug. 24 to report an unknown person vandalized her property and stole various items. The complainant stated the incident took place within the last six hours.

Arrests
A 16-year-old female defendant residing in Nesconset was arrested on Aug. 24 and charged with petit larceny after being arrested at a Kohls department store on Nesconset Highway in Setauket. The charges stemmed from the defendant taking 30 items of merchandise and attempting to leave the store without paying. Police stated that the defendant took all the items into a store dressing room and stuffed them all into a diaper bag she was carrying.

A 38-year-old male defendant who lives on Strauss Avenue in Centereach was arrested on Aug. 24 and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. The defendant was pulled over and arrested at a location on Circle Drive in Stony Brook. According to police records the defendant has a revoked license and more than three suspensions.

Two male defendants residing in Mount Sinai, 21 and 20-years-old respectively, were both arrested on Aug. 22 on Mark Tree Road in Setauket and charged with criminal mischief. Police stated it was at that location that the two defendants vandalized a vehicle by repeatedly kicking in the side door, ripping off the car's mirrors and radio antenna, breaking a headlight and damaging the automobile's hood.
