Driven to distraction by 'The Final Destination'? Police Report

September 09, 2009 | 03:20 PM An anonymous complainant called at 12:25 am Aug. 27 to report a traffic hazard taking place near the movie theater on Nesconset Highway in Stony Brook. According to the complainant there was a unknown operator driving his car in circles around the movie theater' s parking lot with all the car lights off.
A complainant called at 1 pm Aug. 24 to report a road rage incident which had just taken place at the traffic light in front of a medical park on Nesconset Highway in Stony Brook. The complainant claimed to be threatened by the subjects who got out of their vehicles at the above location.
Burglary A male resident of Route 25A in Setauket called at 11:25 pm Aug. 28 to report his home had been burglarized by an unknown person sometime after 10 am that morning. The complainant stated he would wait outside for the police in case the perpetrators were still present.
A female resident of Bonnie Lane in Stony Brook called at 1:45 pm Sept. 1 to report discovering her home had been burglarized by an unknown person who broke into the house earlier that morning.
Arrests A 27-year-old male defendant living on Haskell Lane in Stony Brook was arrested at his home on Aug. 31 and charged with arson, intentionally damaging his vehicle and insurance fraud involving a sum of money in the excess of $3,000. Police reported the charges stem from the defendant setting his automobile on fire to collect insurance money. The Stony Brook Fire Department extinguished the blaze before the car was totally destroyed.
A male defendant, 19, from Stuyvesant Circle in Setauket was arrested on Aug. 31 at his home and charged with two counts of assault with intent to cause physical injury, relating to an alleged assault by the defendant and an unnamed accomplice upon another male subject that left the victim with facial fractures, cuts and abrasions to his head and face area.
A 19-year-old male defendant residing on Sycamore Circle in Stony Brook was arrested on Sept. 1 and charged with assault with intent to cause physical injury. The charges stem from the defendant allegedly punching and kicking a male subject at a location on Middle Country Road in Selden, causing his victim to suffer various injuries.
A male defendant, 40, living on Mills Road in Stony Brook was arrested on Aug. 27 and charged with harassment by physical contact in connection with an incident with took place inside a Starbucks coffee shop on Nesconset Highway in Stony Brook. Police reported the defendant grabbed a female by her hair, threw her off a couch and kicked her while she was on the floor.
A male defendant residing on Marion Avenue in Stony Brook and arrested two weeks previously for driving while impaired by drugs, was arrested again on Aug. 26 and charged with petit larceny after allegedly being seen leaving an electronics department store on Pond Path in Setauket with several DVDs without paying.
