Cops pull pooch to safety

A resident of Sterling Street in Port Jefferson called at 4:19 pm Oct. 8 to report a small dog stuck beneath the back deck of his dwelling. The complainant told police he was afraid he could not pull the dog out without injuring the animal. Police officers rescued the captive canine.

Overexposed
A complainant called at 1:30 pm Oct. 7 to report an unknown male had just exposed himself outside the video store on Route 112 in Terryville. The subject left the area on foot and could not be located by police.

A 43-year-old male resident of Locust Drive in Nesconset was arrested on Oct. 13 at a location on Oakland Avenue near the Long Island Railroad Station in Port Jefferson Station and charged with menacing with a weapon. According to the police report, the defendant brandished a weapon in a menacing fashion and threatened a female subject with it.

Asleep at the wheel
A resident of Grove Street in Port Jefferson Station called at 7:39 am Oct. 8 to report a male subject sleeping in a car parked nearby while the vehicle was running. The complainant stated concerns about carbon monoxide poisoning. Officers awakened the napping man and no further police action was necessary.

Woman unwanted
A resident of Canal Road in Terryville called at 7:15 pm Oct. 6 to report an unknown female was trying to get into his home. The misguided visitor was gone from the scene upon police arrival.

Assault with a knife
Police reported at 1 am Oct. 11 a male victim was assaulted at a location on Old Town Road in Port Jefferson Station and was treated for a knife wound in a hospital emergency room.

Crooks cop copper
A complainant called at 8 am Oct. 8 to report a quantity of copper stolen from a vacant building on Route 112 in Port Jefferson Station. The complainant stated unknown persons apparently broke into the empty structure and removed the metal pipes sometime over the past two weeks.

Last call for y'all
A manager at a bar and grill on Main Street in Port Jefferson called at 2:35 am Oct. 14 to report a group of seven or eight customers inside the establishment had stolen items from the restaurant.

Grand larceny auto
A resident of Evelyn Road in Port Jefferson Station called at 6:10 am Oct. 13 to report his 2001 green Infiniti had been stolen while parked outside his house within the past five hours.

Arrest kicks in
A 33-year-old resident of Irving Street in Port Jefferson Station was arrested on Oct. 9 and charged with criminal mischief with intent to damage property in connection with the defendant kicking in a front door at a location on Rudy's Lane in Coram.
