This week, as Fort Salonga resident Kathy Prisco, 48, faces a second-degree murder charge in her husband's stabbing death on Friday, her lawyer, Tom Liotti, said at least eight people could shed light on his client's emotional and mental state prior to Oct. 30.

"This potential evidence is, upon information and belief, exculpatory," he said, in a Nov. 4 letter to Assistant District Attorney James Chalifoux arguing for a reduced charge of first-degree manslaughter.

The assistant DA has subpoenaed Kathy's eldest son, Matthew, to testify in a grand jury; Liotti names seven other individuals, including Kathy's two sisters from Georgia, who have contacted his office informing him of "encounters and other conversations with her in August and September 2009 where Kathleen, described as a wonderful person by all, was distraught."

Second Precinct police officers were called to Bob O Link Lane in Fort Salonga after responding to a 911 call. When officers arrived, they found that resident Ralph Prisco, 54, had been stabbed multiple times. Prisco was transported by a Suffolk County Police helicopter to Stony Brook University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 9:31 am.
