Cops smell a rat

A 50-year old male resident of Terryville Road in Port Jefferson Station was arrested on Oct. 27 in a store at a shopping center on Middle Country Road in Selden and charged with petit larceny involving the theft of two bottles of cologne.

Down on Main Street
A female complainant called at 3:15 pm Oct. 26 to report tripping and falling in a large pothole on Main Street in Port Jefferson Village near a shop selling Italian ices. The complainant told police she felt pain in her neck, shoulder and left knee but refused further medical assistance.

A resident of Old Town Road in Port Jefferson Station called at 2:20 pm Oct. 23 to report a landscaper working on a neighboring property was creating a disturbance by using a powerful leaf blower and "spraying dirt all over the area."

Throne thrown
A resident of Magnolia Drive in Port Jefferson Station reported at 4:38 pm Oct. 22 that a truck had passed his house at a dangerous rate of speed when suddenly a toilet bowl flew off the back of the vehicle smashing into bits all over the road while the truck kept on trucking. Police arrived and notified Town of Brookhaven of the need for cleanup of the shattered ceramics.

Curs keep chomping
A resident of Hewes Street in Terryville called to report his neighbor has dogs in an adjacent yard that keep chewing through the his back fence. The complainant states he would like the neighbor to replace the damaged fence. Police were not able to speak to the subject and advised the complainant to seek civil redress if the problem cannot be solved.

Drug-related
A resident of Poplar Street in Port Jefferson Station called at 6 pm Oct. 27 to report being informed by a neighbor that other nearby residents were smoking crack in her backyard. The alleged users were gone upon police arrival.

Cyberspacemen
A resident of Port Jefferson Station called at 7:17 pm Oct. 24 to report her

juvenile daughter was corresponding in an Internet chat room with several unknown subjects who claimed to be young males. The complainant stated she believes the subjects may be adults. This incident was referred to the Sixth Precinct's computer crimes unit.

Grand larceny
A resident of Pilgrim Drive in Port Jefferson called at 2:05 pm Oct. 20 to report an unknown person had stolen jewelry from her home in an incident which took place after Sept. 1.

Criminal mischief
The owner of a business on Mariners Way in Port Jefferson called at 8:24 pm Oct. 26 to report unknown persons had broken her storefront window before fleeing the scene.

Vandalism
A female complainant called at 9 pm Oct. 26 to report her vehicle intentionally damaged by unknown subjects while parked on East Main Street in Port Jefferson Village.

You're it
A 17-year-old resident of Speonk Road in Sound Beach was arrested Oct. 27 at his home and charged with making graffiti. The charges stem from the defendant defacing several storage unit doors with spray-painted tags.

Family affair
A 55-year-old male resident of Pagnotta Drive in Port Jefferson Station was arrested Oct. 26 in front of his home and charged with resisting arrest. Also arrested were his wife and 18-year-old daughter, who were both charged with obstruction of governmental administration in connection with their interfering with police officers at the scene.
