Visitors may view an enchanting display of hundreds of decorative works by Long Island artists and artisans, including toys, wreaths, ceramics, paintings and more.
"'Holiday Celebration' is a tradition that not only raises needed funds for the museum, but enables us to share in the spirit of the season," noted museum president Jackie Day. Many items were auctioned at the Holiday Celebration Gala and Silent Auction, the museum's biggest fundraiser, on Nov. 7 when the museum honored Robert G. Allen, president and CEO of Teachers Federal Credit Union.
Following the gala, visitors looking for that unique holiday gift may browse the remaining decorative items and artwork through Dec. 12. Anything not sold at auction will be available for purchase at a discounted price.
While visiting the museum check out the newest galleries opening in December in the Carriage Museum, including the Gentleman's Coach House and the European Vehicles Gallery. A stroll up the hill to the "Colors of Long Island: Student Expressions" exhibition, opening Nov. 14 in the Art Museum, is a perfect way to round off a leisurely afternoon during the busy holiday season.
