All nine signs at entrances to the managed parking lots in Port Jefferson Village were covered for the winter Sunday, Nov. 15. The fresh white vinyl sleeves resemble the sign underneath but there is no gray area in meaning when it comes to the words in the gray field on the sign: 'Metered Parking Is Free!' Mayor Margot Garant and Village Trustee Joe Erland ceremoniously unveiled one of the new, reusable signs last week.
