Commack wins first league title

The Commack Cougars gymnastics team, lead by Courtney Mangini, scored 170.3 points on Nov. 10 at the Suffolk County championships at East Islip to defeat six-time defending county champ Kings Park and earn its first county title. Nine girls on the team received All-League honors. Shannon Von Braunsberg and Alyssa Burns were county finalists. Burns also placed second overall at the Nov. 13 individual county championships. The state championships will be held Feb. 27.
