Free H1N1 vaccine for high priority residents

The county is offering free H1N1 flu vaccine clinics to county residents, who may call (631) 787-2200 for an appointment to participate in a H1N1 clinic on Monday, Dec. 7, in Hauppauge.

The following clinics are open to the public. No appointments are needed.

• Friday, Dec. 18 from 2 to 7 pm at Brookhaven Town Hall, One Independence Hill, Farmingville

• Tuesday, Dec. 22 from 3 to 7 pm at H. Lee Dennison Building, 100 Veterans Memorial Highway, Hauppauge

Individuals in priority groups recommended to receive the H1N1 flu vaccine are: pregnant women; household contacts and caregivers for children younger than 6 months; healthcare and emergency medical services personnel; all people from 6 months through 24 years of age, and 25 through 64 years who have health conditions associated with higher risk of medical complications from influenza.

Residents with questions about the H1N1 influenza vaccine should contact their own health care providers or call the County Department of Health Service's H1N1 hotline at 787-2200 Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
