Free H1N1 flu immunizations

December 15, 2009 | 07:33 AM Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy and Department of Health Services Acting Commissioner Dr. Linda Mermelstein announced Monday, Dec. 14, that the county is offering free H1N1 flu vaccine clinics to all county residents above the age of six months.
Residents should call 631-787-2200 for an appointment to participate in H1N1 clinics at the following locations:
Wednesday, Dec. 30 – Hauppauge
Monday, Jan. 4 - Hauppauge
Friday, Jan. 8 - Smithtown
The following clinics are open to the public. Appointments are NOT needed.
Friday, Dec. 18, 2 to 7 pm Brookhaven Town Hall
One Independence Hill at Bicycle Path, Farmingville
Tuesday, Dec. 22, 3 to 7 pm H. Lee Dennison Building
100 Veterans Memorial Highway, Hauppauge
Saturday, Jan. 9, 1:30 to 4:30 pm North Shore Library
250 Route 25A, Shoreham (Lower Level Community Room)
Individuals highly recommended to receive the H1N1 flu vaccine are:
Pregnant women
Household contacts and caregivers for children younger than 6 months of age
Healthcare and emergency medical services personnel
All people from 6 months through 24 years of age
Persons aged 25 through 64 years who have health conditions associated with higher risk of medical complications from influenza.
Residents with questions about H1N1 influenza vaccine should contact their own health care providers and/or call the Suffolk County Department of Health Service's H1N1 hotline at 631-787-2200 Monday through Friday from 9 am to 4 pm.
