Pharmacist Michele DeAngelis opened Village Chemists on Feb. 4, 1960 — 50 years ago today. DeAngelis and his son Michael, also a pharmacist, still run the store in East Setauket.

Randi Hoehl of Mount Sinai worked in the store during the 1980s, following in the footsteps of her aunt, Donna Magurk, who worked there in the 1960s. Now Hoehl's son John, 17, works with DeAngelis, representing the third generation to serve customers at the pharmacy.

In the photo, DeAngelis smiles along with his newest employee on John's first day on the job last September.
