The students give the congressman input on issues of importance to them and their peers, and the exchange of ideas has proven educational and informative for both the students and the congressman.
The council was established in 2002 and each year new members are nominated to replace graduating seniors. Students are nominated by their schools based on leadership, academics and interest in government and politics.
