February 03, 2010 | 11:05 AM A female complainant from Stony Brook called at noon Jan. 27 to report while driving northbound on Nicolls Road in Stony Brook a former friend who also resides in Stony Brook drove by her, waved a single-digit salute and deliberately swerved her car into the lane of the complainant, forcing her to swerve to avoid colliding with her former friend's vehicle.
Grand larceny A male resident of Upper Sheep Pasture Road in Setauket called at 1 pm Jan. 26 to report numerous pieces of work equipment had been stolen in the last five days from a trailer parked on his property.
A male manager of a department store on Pond Path in Setauket called at 5:09 pm Jan. 11 to report a number of shoplifting incidents adding up to grand larceny.
Burglary A male resident of Buccaneer Lane in Setauket called at 10:15 am Jan. 21 to report last night an unknown intruder broke in through the front door and burglarized his home.
Criminal mischief A male resident of North Country Road in Setauket called at 7 pm Jan. 22 to report unknown persons damaged his property by cutting the cable wires outside of his house. The complainant stated he had also contacted his cable provider.
A female resident of Steeple Lane in Stony Brook called at 7 am Jan. 8 to report an unknown person vandalized her property at some point after 7 pm the previous night.
A male resident of Spencer Lane in Stony Brook called at 4:35 pm Jan. 11 to report a prior incident of an unknown person trespassing and vandalizing his property.
Hunting season brings calls Numerous calls were received by police from the Three Village area last week concerning duck hunters plying their hobby too close to businesses and homes bordering the shorefront.
Arrests A 21-year-old male resident of Ivy League Road in Stony Brook was arrested Jan. 23 after police stopped the defendant at a location along Portion Road in Ronkonkoma. He was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, in this case heroin.
A group of eight 18- and 19-year-old teenagers, three males and three females from Setauket and two males from Port Jefferson were all arrested on Jan. 26 at the same time and each subject was charged with trespassing after the entire group was caught by police illegally entering a tract of LIPA property in Setauket.
An 18-year-old male resident of Meadowgate Avenue in Head of the Harbor was arrested Jan. 25 after police stopped him at a location on the Stony Brook campus and charged him with grand larceny in connection with the earlier theft and use of another's credit card.
A 38-year-old female living on Jones Road in Setauket was arrested Jan. 23 at a supermarket on Pond Path in Setauket and charged with petit larceny in connection with the theft of various grocery items.
