Off-season: Cougars training hard

It's the off-season and the Centereach football team is working its tails off in preparation for fall time. The Cougars work out for an hour every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Everyone in the weight room is giving 110 percent effort.

Earlier in the off-season the Cougars took a weight test in the three core lifts: squat, bench press and push press. This test helped calculate their individual 'one rep max,' or the most weight they can lift one time.

On Mondays Centereach takes a high percentage of this one rep max and pushes out a few reps for three sets.

On Fridays the Cougars take a smaller percentage of this number and do a lot of reps for three sets. Wednesdays are many players' personal favorite. The Cougars don't use any weight other than their own while they do an intense routine called Insanity Workout.

The Cougars are not going to be an easy win for any team in the upcoming season. After all, seasons are won and lost in the weight room.
