POLICE REPORT Beware of pizza guy bearing gift

February 04, 2010 | 12:10 PM A resident of Marbeth Circle in Miller Place called at 9:21 pm Jan. 16 to report an unknown white male in his late teens or early 20s tried to trick his way into her house with an empty Domino's pizza box. According to the complainant the subject, six-feet-tall with a shaved or bald head and a muscular build, arrived at her door with the pizza box and after being told by the complainant that she did not order any pizza, stated she could have the pie for free. The complainant refused the offer and the fake delivery man departed leaving the empty box behind on her property.
After speaking to the complainant at her home police spoke with an employee of a pizzeria in Rocky Point who stated a person fitting the same description as the subject had earlier requested a free pizza box and then offered to buy one. The man was seen leaving the parking lot in a grayish colored minivan, possibly a Plymouth or Dodge with New York registration. Suffolk police continue to investigate.
Shooting at Connecticut Police received a report at 11 am Jan. 19 regarding two unknown men in a boat off the shoreline of Hallock Landing Beach in Rocky Point firing shots across the water.
Kitchen fire A resident of Hickory Avenue in Mount Sinai called at 10:10 pm Jan. 28 to report a fire in progress in his kitchen after a stove ignited while he was cooking. The Mount Sinai Fire Department responded to the scene and extinguished the blaze before any injuries occurred. The Town of Brookhaven fire marshal deemed the fire to be accidental.
Keeping America beautiful A complainant called at 3:53 pm Jan. 18 to report a deer's head stuck in a roadway trash receptacle near a wooded area by Cedar Beach in Miller Place.
Real estate blues A resident of Brentwood Road in Sound Beach called at 4:40 pm Jan. 20 to report items stolen from her house over the past 10 days. Complainant suspects the articles were taken by people coming to look at the home, which is for sale.
Criminal mischief A resident of Inwood Road in Sound Beach called at 5:55 pm Jan. 15 to report her vehicle vandalized by unknown persons.
Harassment A female complainant called at 5:50 pm Jan. 23 from a location on Route 25A in Shoreham to report a known subject bit her hand in the course of an argument between the two parties.
Souvenirs for sheetrockers? A resident of Cherry Road in Rocky Point called at 1 pm Jan. 22 to report items missing from her home which is undergoing renovations. The complainant stated the construction crew working on the grounds was no longer in the area.
Criminal mischief A 48-year-old male residing on Tyler Avenue in Miller Place was arrested Jan. 23 at the sixth police precinct on Middle Country Road in Selden and charged with criminal mischief with intent to damage property. According to the police report the defendant attempted to damage another homeowner's furnace by pouring water into the subject's fuel oil tank.
Heroin bust A 23-year-old male living on States Lane in Shoreham was arrested Jan. 26 after being stopped by the police on Highland Road in Rocky Point and charged with criminal sale of heroin.
