yes votes
February 09, 2010 | 08:46 AM

As a parent, I have spoken to many other parents when it comes time to vote on the school budget. Everyone is torn over how to vote. The only reason parents vote yes is because they don't want their children to lose any programs. Many parents say they hate voting yes because they don't want the district to think they can afford it, or that they approve of the increased spending, but they feel they have no choice. A yes vote is only because parents are held hostage to student budget cuts. I can assure you, if the only cuts in the budgets were contracts and benefits, parents would then vote no. No one should ever think a yes vote proves the community supports spending and tax increases. It's just the opposite.
