Christine M. Stoddart
Died: Monday, January 18, 2010
Christine M. Stoddart of Port Jefferson, Manhattan and Vail, Colo., died on Jan. 18. She was the beloved wife of Glen Sawtelle; daughter of Gordon and Ilah Stoddart; sister of Stacey Zink of Port Jefferson and Amy Carillo of New York City; and aunt of Holly Zink and Ally and Ashley Carillo.
A 1981 graduate of Earl L. Vandermeulen High School, she earned nine varsity letters in field hockey, basketball, volleyball and softball. She was awarded the Suffolk County Gold Key Award. Christine was a recognized Suffolk County official in field hockey. She enjoyed golfing, skiing, sailing and biking, especially with her husband.
Christine graduated from Suffolk County Community College with an associate of arts degree in criminal justice, a bachelor's degree in political science and a master's degree from C.W. Post. She was employed by the Department of Transportation and Transit Authority for 20 years, from where she retired as an assistant chief.
A funeral service was held on Jan. 25 with the Rev. James Krauser officiating. Interment followed at the Lutheran Cemetery in Middle Village, Queens.
