Reverend Monsignor Francis S. Midura

Died: Monday, July 30, 2012
Most Reverend Msgr. Francis S. Midura, 67 years of age, died on July 30. Born in Locust Valley of Polish parents, Jan and Genowefa Midura. Msgr Midura studied for the priesthood at Seminary of the Immaculate Conception in Huntington, and was ordained in 1970. Said his first Mass at St. Patricks R.C. Church in Glen Cove. His last assignment was pastor at St. Thomas More in Hauppauge until his death. Graduated from Catholic University where he received his degree in church administration. Served on the Marriage Tribunal with the Diocese of Rockville Centre. In 1980, he joined the Army as chaplain and served in Saudi Arabia during the Gulf War. Became a retired Colonel of the U.S. Army. Chaplain for the Hauppauge and Carle Place Fire Departments. Active member of the Knights of Columbus. Msgr. Midura touched so many lives and was loved by all who came in contact with him.

Msgr. Midura’s survivors include his sister “Mickey” Margas, Joseph Midura (Lucretia), brother, Stanley Midura (Eileen); nephews and nieces Michelle Strollo (Roberto), Genevieve Probst (Frank), and Lillian Margas, John Midura (deceased) Joseph Midura, “Pogi” Stanley Midura (Audre), Laura Pierce (Jason); great-nephews Kevin Probst (Nicole), David Probst, Steven Probst, Trent and Tyler Midura; one great-grandnephew, Connor Probst and many close friends.

The wake is scheduled for Thursday, August 2, from 5-9 pm in Walden Hall of St. Thomas More R.C. Church, Kings Highway in Hauppauge, with Firematic services at 8 pm. Knights of Columbus Services to follow. Visitation August 3 from 3:30-6:30 pm. A mass of transferal will take place at St. Thomas More R.C. Church on August 3 at 7:30 pm. A Funeral Mass will be offered on August 4 at 11 am, Bishop William Murphy officiating. Burial at Locust Valley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Thomas More R.C. Church Kitchen Fund, 115 Kings Highway in Hauppauge.
