Directors of the North Shore Youth Council, along with a score of children and a dozen members of Rocky Point VFW Post 6249 and members of their Ladies Auxiliary, welcomed Congressman Tim Bishop (D-Southampton) with colorful signs made by the kids, balloons and refreshments. Bishop, for his part, presented the youth council with a check for $250,000 for the council's expansion into veterans' assistance.

Drivers on the Rocky Point bypass should be easing up on the gas pedal these days. Observant motorists will have noticed the speed limit along most of that mile-and-a-quarter, two-lane highway has been reduced from 55 mph to 50 mph.
