Two men displayed what appeared to be a real gun and robbed the Kool Mart on Hallock Avenue in Port Jeff Station a little after 8 pm Sunday. Within the hour police had two suspects in custody.

Parking in Port Jefferson? Beware the Ides of March

Staffed for the first time with its own parking czar, the Village of Port Jefferson ends the winter parking holiday for its metered lots and opens the season for managed parking. Beginning Monday, March 15, nonresidents who park in the metered lots between 10 am and 10 pm will have to feed the meters or face a $30 parking ticket. Twenty-five cents pays for one half hour of parking in designated lots.

A 52-year-old female resident of Casey Lane in Mount Sinai was arrested Feb. 22 after being pulled over by police on Henry Street in Commack and charged with petit larceny and operation of a motor vehicle while leaving the scene of an accident resulting in property damage. Police stated the defendant was holding multiple items of stolen houseware when she struck the side panel of another vehicle and failed to stop at the accident scene.
