Re: The Usual (still dodging)
March 18, 2010 | 12:18 PM "Hey, face facts, you're no more important than any of the rest of us."
Know voters have always faced facts. That's how they got to be in the know.
And that's why they are so hard to deceive.
re: stopbiggovernment
March 18, 2010 | 11:44 AM Not bad using a Republican talking point as your name. Too bad the Republicans are as guilty as the Democrats for big government. No politician is willing to cut spending because no matter where they cut, there is some special interest group that gets mad (see NY State and the Legislature vowing to restore all spending that the Governor cut). I agree with most of your points. However, I don't believe that tort reform will ever pass, since the majority of politicians are lawyers. As far as keeping the government out of health care, well, they are already in it. The STATE governments make the regulations now. That is why we can't go across state lines to buy, which is exactly one of the things that is needed. Finally, the tax you speak of is a tax on expensive health care plans. The intent. Employers won't want to pay the tax, so they will look for cheaper plans. Their current insurers will either lose the business, or reduce charges.
Re: Testing
March 18, 2010 | 10:16 AM "I'm not a teacher, but I am a parent of three children. I can promise you, bad teachers equal lower test scores."
Bad parents will also lead to lower test scores. Rough at home, rough in school. Those things go hand in hand.
Please understand, I'm not pointing a finger at you.
Re: The usual(still kicking)
March 18, 2010 | 10:12 AM Hey, face facts, you're no more important than any of the rest of us. You'll just have to wait for the answers you're looking for with the rest of us simple folk.
I know that's not going to be enough 'substance' for you but I hope it'll hold you over.
Re: Tutors
March 18, 2010 | 09:28 AM "My child had 2 teachers that should have been fired back to back. We paid for tutors thru high school making up for it."
The irony is, the tutors are usually teachers, making some extra money on the side for work that their colleagues should have done in the classroom.
Tutors
March 18, 2010 | 08:42 AM How many parents pay for tutors to compansate for bad teachers?
My child had 2 teachers that should have been fired back to back. We paid for tutors thru high school making up for it.
The reading and math labs are a joke, and shouldn't be necessary if the teachers knew their jobs.

I'm not a teacher, but I am a parent of three children. I can promise you, bad teachers equal lower test scores.

Re: Answers
March 18, 2010 | 08:18 AM Wow, a little impatient there aren't we.The district is still working on cutbacks with all groups.
You're nobodys boss so calm down a little and the answers, you want so badly, will come.
I can see you now laying on the floor, kicking your feet. Not a pretty sight.
re: shirts off backs
March 18, 2010 | 08:07 AM "Would the teachers like the shirts off our children's backs?"
Hasn't that always been the traditional threat if the budget doesn't pass?
