What happened to Lowes?
March 17, 2010 | 08:22 PM It's been a few years since the application for Lowes to replace the Huntington Town House and I noticed the application is no longer on the TOH agenda web site. Did they pull out? anyone know anything? Everytime I drive by the old Town House I wonder if I am in Detroit. The condition of this site is a disgrace that reduces property values in the entire town. And the school bus parking going on there is very unsightly. How many more years must we endure this eyesore on one of the busiest roads in Huntington, ruining the image of out town?

NYS systems that are based on trust?
December 11, 2008 | 08:50 PM
A corrupt NYS, Retirement, courts, union, insurance, and financial system based on trust of "LAWYERS"? Who are you kidding....
have you heard a good lawyer joke lately,,, It's usually based on the truth of Greed.
State Comptroller DiNapoli announced that his office has rescinded the New York State and Local Retirement System service credit of attorneys, who were erroneously reported as employees by school districts, boards of educational cooperative services, special districts and municipalities.
"As our review of lawyers in the Retirement System continues, we are finding individuals from across the state who are incorrectly reported as employees," DiNapoli said. "We are recouping pension benefits that erroneously were paid out."
But, we the middle class have learned NOT to play with them because they lie............Always LIE.........Yet, if we get stuck using them, be assured they will underbelly feed....
This system of trust NO LONGER WORKS.
Lawyers, Judges and courts are NOT held accountable for their behaviors.

What will you be willing to give up?
December 05, 2008 | 10:59 PM
It can be seen from Montauk to Santa Barbara.
What is happening here, is happening in Montgomery,Michigan. These issues are being screamed about all over the country.
The Union's made the middle class.
The middle class has just got too much power.
Our old wealthy, had figured out how to keep their money through government, reserves, trusteeships and pork barrel Handouts.
So, Why NOT the middle class?
After all, They kept the credit flowing, so the need for even more, kept Consumerism {Credit} growing. A few union people figured out how, old wealthy, kept their money.. So what, the power has than been shifted.
The Unions got the average Joe/Jane, Health insurance, dental and eye glasses. Maybe a 401 k. While Joe/Jane union, was at work their mate took care of the Family, house, children, yard, transportation (which keeps those industries in business) THAN THAT NEED FOR MORE, sparked it's ugly head again. There was no longer the celebrated caregivers. (Fast Food, microwaved dinners, smaller food size, day care, after school care, don't forget the nursing homes.)
Do you see the cycle?
Are you understanding the problem?
Are you ready for a change?
Which institution will you allow to steer your thinking?
Like you would even have a choice.
Get out and participate, vote, write letters.
Remember the more you desire the more you have to take care of.
But economically, we are now screwed.

Leaf burning
October 27, 2008 | 10:32 AM
Just curious how many of
you have neighbors who burn
leaves and if you are okay
with that. I am somewhat
asmatic as well as my children.
We understand fire
places etc. but since leaf
burning was banned due toxins
and carcinigins, I just
have trouble not getting
angry that I have to stay inside
while it goes on for hours.
Would love opinions!!

downtown traffic
September 24, 2008 | 09:06 PM
Can the town board create loading zones
for commercial deliveries,, ie Fed Ex and
UPS so they don't double park during the evening heavy rush hour.Driving through
the village is like playing a video game.
The constant lane changing to avoid another double parked truck is causing
a hazard and needs to be addressed.

Open Space
September 09, 2008 | 05:12 PM
I'm all in favor of the town spending money on open space, but the continuing problem often seems to be lack of supervision, security, or maintenence at parks. Sometimes this is resolved by giving concessions or private interest groups a contract to operate - but isn't this like taxpayers supporting private enterprise? Shouldn't the town make sure it has funds to manage the existing open spaces / parks first?

Fishing Pier In Northport
July 31, 2008 | 09:05 AM
Guess I'm showing my age on this but I was told by the originator and 1st owner of the bait shack at the Huntington pwr station ramp (stacks)In Northport that when they built the pwr plant LILCO promised Huntington it would provide a fishing pier off the beach into the sound to appease the town.He always complained that it was one of the reasons he started that bussiness there. He has sadly passed away and I always thought it would be a great thing for the area.I see now that a vets org is planing a club house there,Its a big streach of shore line.I am sure both could be a possibility.Just wondering if any one out there recalls this and why it never came to be ??
